Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

collecting wages

I was doing contract work at a small firm for two weeks. The engagement ended a month and a half ago and I still have not been paid. Several phone calls and emails have been made only to get the run around. What recourse do I have?

If I file a claim with the state dept. of employment, this could take a year. Since the total is under $3000, can I take it to small claims court? Thanks...
