Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois
Contractual Obligations
When I was first hired to work with this organization, it was never indicated in my contract or otherwise that a vehicle was necessary to obtain or maintain employment. Performance reveiws have been issued, and my supervisor has revised my review because I do not own a car. Is this legal if it was never in my initial contract with this organization?

Re: Contractual Obligations
Hello. The law has not been broken to warrant
any criminal prosecution of your employer, but
you may have a claim for wrongful discharge if
you get fired for not having a vehicle. If this
was not in your employment contract, I believe
you can file a lawsuit if your employment is
terminated. Will be happy to discuss this with
you further.
