Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

I would like to know if I am being discriminated against. I work in a factory that downsized in April of 2009. At that time I was demoted from Production Manager to Material Flow Coordinator. I was told that it was nothing I did it was just the economy. Since that time the company has hired 3 Production Managers. I bid on one of the jobs and never got an interview. Currently there is a Production Manager opening in my department that I have been in for 11 years and that I was Production Manager in before the downsize. I have always had excellent evaluations and have never been reprimanded for anything. I know I am the most qualified for the job. Politics play a big part in positions within our company. I am 99% sure I will not even get an interview but I definitely meet the qualifications for the job.

Discrimination is only unlawful and actionable when it is based on you being a member of a protected class such as race, national origin, etc.
