Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois
I have a former employer who owes me about 6000.00. I filed with the dept of labor, but they say it will take at least 6 months now that the claim has gone to their legal department. Can I take the guy to small claims court while that is still pending, and is that a good idea?

You can, but depending on the county, it may take that long to get to trial. If you sue your employer, you may be entitled to additional damages, as well as have your employer pay your attorneys fees and court costs--which can be pretty satisfying.
