Is an employer responsible for property belonging to an employee that is left in the employers care while employee is on disability leave

I would say it depends on what you mean by "left in the employer's care." If you handed it to him or her and said, "Please take care of this while I am gone," the employer might be responsible, depending on what happened to it. On the other hand, if you just left something on your desk while you were gone, it seems a bit of a stretch to say that it was "left in the employer's care."
