Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois
My father worked for the same company for over 30 years. He had some medical restrictions put on him and was laid off as a result (they said they had no light-duty work). Now we've found out that two other employees have been placed on LD since then (with much greater restrictions than my father) yet they have not been laid off. Is this legal?

Your father should see an employment law attorney. While it's impossible to tell from your information whether what they did was legal, when you say your dad worked for them for over 30 years, my guess is that he's over 40 years old, and there are some laws about discriminating against 40+ year old workers, which could be a clue to why they did what they did. While your dad could file a claim with the EEO of discrimination and could wind up eventually with a right to sue letter, it may be quicker to have an employment law attorney give it a full review now.
