Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

Hiring practice

Both myself and a former boss are being considered for a job with a new company. I'm afraid that he is using is former position to say disparaging things about me that may or may not be true. It l seems like a blatant conflict of interest for him to be able to say anything at all about another candidate for that job. If he does is there any legal recourse?

Re: Hiring practice

Good morning. If your former boss makes statements about you to the prospective employer that are not true and you can prove this, then you can file a lawsuit against your former boss for slander. In Illinois slander is a legal action that is alive and well. Many people do not realize that they put themselves at great financial risk by making false statements about someone. Will be happy to discuss this further and in more detail.
