Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois
IL Noncompete
I signed an employee contract, including a non-compete and non-disclosure agreement, for a start-up company I was helping to start. I then found out that the company itself has not been registered in any way; what, if any, legality does the afforementioned contract hold over me if I wished to start my own company in the same industry and geographical area? Can I withdraw my work if I've received no compensation for any of it? I've been researching employee contract law, but can find nothing when the company is not officially registered (which leads me to believe the contract is not enforcable). Thanks.
