Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

Would I have a right to take legal action if my employer had favorable treatment with other employees? I'm very aware of people retaining jobs at my previous employer despite company violations. What should be done?

Please repost with specifics as absent unlawful discrimination, violations of policy manuals, violation of specific contracts or a violation of a collective bargaining agreement, employers are free to choose who they give better treatment to as opposed to others.
