They kicked me out the door for being one minute late.I went to a seminar and I ask the man this question, "If you get fired from a job are you entitled to unemployment?" And the guy said yes I said how come when I started getting unemployment They stop it after a month this happened in 2006 I'm still paying that money back and I think that is wrong.I have of more questions can you call me at this number? 1 Answer from Attorneys
When people claim unemployment employers are contacted to see if they have any reason why benefits should be denied and if there is a dispute then there is usually a hearing. So how it came to be that you wound up having to repay benefits is a mystery. You may have forfeited your rights to a hearing, or defaulted, or lost, depending on any number of factors. If you can't afford an attorney today you may have to seek help from a legal clinic. That shouldn't stop you from going to the Dept of Labor yourself and finding out what if anything is in your file for this claim.
