Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

Lunch break

Where I work, I am the only one there alot. My company has just made a new rule that when you are by yourself, you must clock out for 30 minutes for lunch, but you are not allowed to leave. Is this legal that they make us stay when not on the clock?

My gut says "no." Seems patently unreasonable that you would "have" to stay on location w/out pay. Under those circumstances, you are still providing a service to your employer (otherwise they can hire a security guard) and, as such, you deserve compensation.
