Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois
I was openly mocked by one of my junior managers in front of an employee he favors. Of course,
this isnt the first incident of harrassment by this manager. I did bring up past problems with this
manager with our senior manager. Unfortunately, our senior manager was recently terminiated. I think
this was the excuse this junior manager needed to be so bold in his harrassment towards me. Also,
that same night, at the end of my shift and in the office (with no witnesses of course), he told me
what he personally "thought" of me. Needless to say it wasn't complimentary. In any case, I'm just
a lowly hourly employee and wondering whether or not to bring up this with one of the interim managers
and/ or our employee relations dept? Any advice would be helpful - thank you.

There's illegal harassment, and then there are just bad management styles. You need to be specific about what's going on -- saying you were "harassed" is just a conclusion. We can't really help without knowing. So if you don't want to do this on line the best thing to do would be to see an attorney, and maybe there's an HR benefit like that, but before I'd go to HR I'd talk to an independent attorney first.
