Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois
I recently had my car broken into and a lrage amount of work equipment stolen from it. My company has asked that I pay the deductible on the equipment, what is my liability to pay for this?
1 Answer from Attorneys
Generally speaking Illinois says employees are not liable for "damages" and that could include equipment that is stolen while under your "control", but without understanding your complete working arrangement and what level you are at, it is difficult to say as there may be a collective bargaining agreement involved as well.
