Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois
Salary employee treated like an hourly employee
Hello, I am a salared employee, although the bulk of my work takes place between 8-5, M-F, I am also required to be available afterhours for emergencies that may arise and often do. With that, I do not receive OT pay since I am salary, however, I am constantly given grief about my starting at an exact time each day vs. having flexibility. Also, my supervisor has threatened to reduce my salary, make me hourly in an effort to force me to comply with a strict hourly schedule. Aside from just being an example of micro managing at it's worst, is this at all against the law?

Hello. In my opinion, your employer is violating the law. You should be paid for your overtime work. The job is taking advantage of you. Will be happy to discuss this further and in more detail.
