Salary reduction, age discrimination
I am over 50 and worked 20+years for my employer. I have excellent reviews and considered a top performer. I was told my salary will be reduced 20% immediately. Justification boils down helping the company maintain profitablility. Only a fraction of the employees are effected, most were not. Some were given severence packages. I did ask if I could have a severence package but was told I was too valuable to be let go. I believe my employee is taking advantage based on my age. It's unlikely I can leave and find a similiar paying job. So they get me to do the same job for less and if I leave I get no severence. What should I do next?

If you believe this action was taken due to your age, you should file a complaint with the EEOC. It is important to do this promptly, as there are time limits on making an EEOC complaint, and once those limits expire, you are barred.
The problem in most age discrimination cases is that discriminatory motive is hard to prove. However, if you are over 50 and other, younger employees in similar stations were not so treated, your case looks better than most.
