Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

Salon Manager Wrongful Termination ?!

I was just suspended for the rest of last week as a SmartStyle Salon Manager for not being able to open my salon due to my daughter having contracted ''hand, foot & mouth disease'' at the very daycare that my super insisted that I get my daughter cared for; in order to secure the supervisor position she and my reg. supervisor had tested me for & offered me almost 4 mos ago now...yet, my super has never returned my calls since telling me on the phone I was suspended for the rest of that week (last week) because of the above situation and I had just fired the probationary stylist who hung up on me when I pulled rank to try & get him to work that following day, (I have just learned that she has rehired he, that I just fired, and I was suspended for doing so last week). And she has now hired 2 new people all in my salon....yet, I was ''threatened that I need to bring my client service sales up by the 15th. of this month or else''...all just days prior to all of these recent events and still no returned calls from her or my reg. supervisor ?! I still have the key to my salon, yet I was also informed by the stylist there yesterday; they just changed the salon locks...again, I have heard NOTHING YET & THEY WON'T RETURN MY CALLS AT ALL ?!

Re: Salon Manager Wrongful Termination ?!

The first thing you need to do is figure out what you want. You are obviously very frustrated because they are messing you around, but you will only succeed in dealing with disorganized people if you are clear about what you want.

Do you have an employment contract? or an employee manual? A written document will be the best guide to what your rights and responsibilities are, and will help you figure the best way to show they are not acting appropriately.
