Is an employee liable for salary paid to the employee if the C.E.O. claims the employee's salary was paid out from the wrong account or revenue source?

Depends on what account/revenue source it was paid from. Usually though, once you are paid, you are paid and it is the employer's fault for making the book-keeping error.
