Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois
I work for a salon in Illinois. We are commision based pay. We do not make an hourly ammount. (Is that legal?). Even if I come in and work, assist, fold towels, sweep, answer phones but don't have any clients I don't get paid. (Is that legal?) Also we have mandatory classes and meetings on our days off that we do not get paid for. (Is that legal also?)

It is legal to work on a commission basis. The question is: Are you? For a definitive answer you need to contact the Department of Labor, Bureau of Wages and Hours. 312-596-7230
