Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois
i worked for a furrier for $12 per hour. i filled out my tax forms. he took just shy of $100 per week from my pay for taxes, didn't provide a pay stub. further, he took more than what i claimed on my tax forms. when i confronted him concerning this, he ignored my request. now, he said he mailed my w2 early last week, i haven't received it. when i told him i didn't receive it and asked him if his accountant could fax it, he replied that he just doesn't care. what can i do, and do i have recourse

Since you have to fill out your own tax return and most likely he will claim your salary as an expense on his, he had a legal duty to get the W-2 out by 1/31 to you. You can contact an IRS office or Illinois DOR office. The Illinois Dept of Labor may help as to overwithholding too. If you've told this to the employer or the employer's CPA already, and they still ignore you, time to move ahead. You may have to ask for an extension to file your returns.
