Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois
Year end bonus - termination
I was just terminated (end date of Decemebr 21 actually) from my job and was told because it was before the year end, I would not be eligible for my year end bonus (@ 12-14k). I was not fired for cause or did I ever receive any written discipline. I was simply told ''It's not working out''. Is this legal? what are my rights?

It depends, but under most circumstances you would be entitled to a pro-rata share of the bonus. BUT, there are lots of issues and you need to get to an attorney asap.

If you can show that the reason you were fired was due to the company not wanting to pay your bonus, you have a good case. Remember that such cases are heard before juries, who will use common sense. So you may have an interesting case.
