Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois
Apartment transfer
If a tenant wants to upgrade from a studio to a 1 bedroom apt. in the same complex and is denied by the property manager, are they required to have specific reasons for the denial?

Re: Apartment transfer
Hello. Whether the tenant is entitled to an
explanation of why he or she is being denied the
upgrade will depend, to a great extent, on whether the tenant has a written lease. There may be specific language in the lease regarding this issue. On the other hand, my suspicions are raised when there is a denial of this sort
as far as landlord/tenant issues are concerned.
This is a matter that I would be interested in
handling, but I presume there are other facts
which would allow me to give a more complete answer.
