Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois
My boyfriend lives in Wisconsin and I live in Chicago. He comes and visits me on the weekends (he stays two nights out of the week) and stays in Madison and works during the week. He does this every weekend. Since he is over so frequently does that mean he lives here? Does he need to be put on the lease? I don't want to jeopardize my lease, but I want to see him. (Also my lease says that he cannot stay more than 7 Consecutive days.)

Given the facts of the lease and living arrangements that you have said, it would appear that he would not have to be on the lease because he is not staying more than 7 consecutive days. Unless there are other facts, your boyfriend may be OK. Is he helping to pay the rent or utilities of the apartment?
