Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois
in chicago, i gave my tenant a five day notice for non-payment of rent. i went to file at courthouse and only asked for possession, no back rent. will my 5 day notice be proper, or should i have served a 30 day notice.
i also gave a five day notice 2 months ago, ut didnt have the money to file for eviction.

Each five day notice stands on its own. If rent was not paid a five day is typically what is used. If rent was not paid but you did not sue usually the most recent notice is used to super the case. If you are unsure hire an attorney to help you.
