Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois

My fiance moved in with me about 2 years ago at my parents house and since then has been paying $180 a month to stay here. We just recently had a baby and he is now 5 months. My parents are telling us that we cannot use our air conditioner when it is extremely hot in here. Isn't there a law against having an infant and having them in heat for long periods of time? Also, we were visiting family in Virginia and came back to all of our stuff packed in boxes. Everything was in our room, behind closed doors. Do they have a right to do this? They went through all of our belongings and packed it up saying that it will be easier when we move out which we are not moving out for another 2 weeks or so. My father keeps threatening us saying were getting kicked out when we have been paying rent. Is he able to kick us out without a 30 day notice after we pay rent?

If you're paying on a month-to-month basis, all he had to do was give you a month's notice and you are gone. I don't suggest starting a war at this point in time even if you could. It's not worth it since you're already moving. The alternative is to squat, start a war, get served with notice, then a summons, go to court, face off against them, pay a lawyer or not, and if they win then squat again and just wait for the Sheriff to come out with a moving company and throw everything you own out on the street, and then wait to get sued for the rent, the court costs, the moving company, and everything. It's too bad things seem to have to end like this, but give it all some time after you set up your own home, maybe even get married (Illinois does NOT recognize living together as a marriage), and hopefully show your folks you are responsible adults.
