Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois
We had a friend come stay with us for a while. She has long outstayed her welcome and we would like to force her to leave. She has not paid us any rent or utilities for the 3.5 months she has been here.
How much notice is she legally entitled to? I'd love to put her in a hotel for two days starting tomorrow, and leave things at that.

Have you asked her to leave? If she came as a guest then the rent/utilities issue would not be an issue. You did not define what the understanding was when she first came, or what has happened since to change it from guest to something else, or whether it ever was just as a guest. There is no real way to know what kind of legal notice is required since the nature of the relationship is unclear. Please clarify this and then we may be in a better position to help.
