Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois
I have a house guest that has been here over 30 days. My lease states that I cannot have anyone here longer thsn 30 days. They don't pay any bills or rent here.I have asked them to leave. They buy food with food stamps that are not assigned to my residence. They contend that that gives them the right to live here. What are my choices to evict them?

Most courts will assume this is a month-to-month arrangement that will require you to give a proper 30-day notice and may require you to file an eviction lawsuit if the guest does not voluntarily leave before the time period is up. 30-day notices are tricky so I would have an attorney prepare it for you.
