Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois
I.asked my roommate to leave the apartment next month. I'm the only one on the lease and the only reason I don't want him here is due to cleaning issues, he refuses to leave but I don't want him here. I'm also in Chicago,IL. He says I can not kicking him out because he has been paying rent but the cleaning gets frustrating sometimes. What can I do?

Since you probably don't have a lease with your roommate, you can't prove that house cleaning was a responsibility (he said he said), a statutory 10-day notice probably will be difficult so more likely you will have to go the 30-day route assuming the room mate paid monthly. And if the room mate then doesn't move you will have to file an eviction lawsuit.
