Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois
I am a landlord in cook county, I was renting my house out but want to just sell it now. The lease expired over 1 year ago, so we are month to month. Do I need to give 30 days notice to vacate the property or more? I just want to sell it and get rid of it.

Assuming these are ALL the facts, yes, 30 days notice. And by 30 days, a MINIMUM of 30 days prior to the next rent date. So assuming the rent is due on the 1st, when the month-to-month "automatically" renews, you would need to give notice at least 30 days prior to that date. If there's anything more, or the lease has other provisions that may survive into a month-to-month, then have an attorney review the lease first.
