landlord ask for more money

hi my landlord is asking me tp pay more rent i live here 3 years one time i hade reise for $50 from old landloard now they sold the building to some other owner and he changed only windows on the building and he asking me to pay $100 -$150 he say's to me we can talk about the price he is gone give discount i need to pay $100 extra only im paying now $750 for two bedroom in chicago can he ask me to pay so much on one time plase help i dont have money to pay lowyer any advise or do i need to pay witn no question asked everything is old in my appartement my light bulb in bathroom is bad six months he neverchanged them i told so many times i thin $100 is too much

The landlord always has the right to raise the rent. If you have a lease, then the lease remains in effect unless there is something else in the lease that says otherwise. If you have a month to month tenancy - you pay monthly without a written lease - then he has the right to raise the rent after giving you notice. My advice to you is find another apartment - my experience is that there are nicer apartments out there if you look for them. And sometimes nicer landlords!
