Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois
I am a landlord and just took my tenants to court for eviction. The judge ruled that they must move out by September 12th and pay $4,000 in back rent. However the day after court I received papers saying the male tenant filed bankruptcy. How am I going to be able to get my money? As of right now the female tenant has not filed bankruptcy.

You can't do ANYTHING against him until you go into bankruptcy court, show you got the order of possession entered PRIOR to the filing, and get an order showing you can proceed to call out the Sheriff. Not knowing the relationship between the "male" and "female" tenant you should consult with an attorney because you may or may NOT be able to take action against her (calling out the Sheriff ONLY for her....) depending on that relationship. This is NOT a DIY situation anymore.
