Re: landlord
Contact Chicago City Hall and ask about the City Landlord/Tenant Ordinance. This reply does not constitute legal advice because you are not as yet my client.
Re: landlord
If you are in the City of Chicago, the Chicago Residential Landlord and Tenant Ordinance may appy to you. If so, your landlord must with in 45 days return the deposit after you vacate with copies of the bills for the damaged sink. The landlord may also send estimates with in 30 days followed up by actual receipts 30 days later. If he fails to do so, the landlord may have violated the RLTO and be subject to damages. Any further questions please call
Re: landlord
OK, well 60617 is within Chicago, so you are covered under the protections of the Residential Landlord Tenant Ordinance. Not only does your landlord owe you back your deposit if he cannot prove you damaged the property, but he also owes you interest on the deposit.
Is your landlord claiming that a sink is the same exact cost as your rent deposit!? That's some sink! He's trying to pull a fast one.
