Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois
I live in a first-floor condo. The people upstairs are renters. The owner of that unit lives out of state. The floors upstairs have gotten to the point that it's not merely creaking; it sounds almost like something is breaking. The Association says it's a privately-owned unit, so they can't do anything, and the unit owner has basically ignored it. Anything I can do lawyer-wise here?

BS - floors between units are usually common elements and so unless the declaration is really odd this would be the Association's responsibility. Maybe the renter is overloading the floors.
