Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois
I have had a mobile home tenant on my private property for about 15 years. The owner recently became ill and had to move in with her children. I don't want her mobile home on my property any longer and she is unwilling to move it, since it is old and has no value. They also stated they will destroy it so no one can live in it. What do I do about getting it off my property?

It may be worth scrap in today's market. Check around. What you don't say is how it came to be there. Assuming it came to be there through some kind of arrangement, what was the arrangement? Bring it on, pay rent, and then get it off? Is it in writing? If so you can enforce it in court. If not, you'd have to prove up that was the deal but that may not be hard to do. But in the end if they don't have the money to have it moved, what do you want to do? If you file suit in the end you'll pay all of the court costs and the owner may have no money left to pay you any judgment. And if all she lives on is social security and medicare/medicaid, you can't garnish them unless they screw up and mingle the funds with others. So it may be worth taking title to in exchange for a release if a scrap company has any use for it. Make sure you get certtificate of title that that it is clean.
