Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois

When I moved into my Ex Husbands building it was agreed that I handle the rents and paying the bills. Recently he has been demanding to collect the cash rents. The tenants were told when they moved in to pay the rents to me and it also says it in their leases. He wants to take the rents and use it to hire a lawyer to handle all his legal and financial troubles. The tenants don't want to pay him because he has used the money before and I don't because when we divorced I gave him both properties in exchange for my apt free for life and I'm not willing to let him lose this property. He says he will give them 5 day notices if they give me the rents. They have leases stating to give me the rents and receipts from me. Can he evict them?
