Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois

can i put a lien on my X's house for not paying rent

my x fiance and i have a lease together ( 1 bedroom/ 1yr)and she left on her own and moved back to her parents house (which my X owns legally). she is not paying the rent to the leasing office for our current lease anymore. We are both joint on the lease and all that matters to the leasing office is that a payment of 770 a month gets there. The first month she moved out, she paid directly to the leasing office. now she tells me there isnt one thing i can do to make her pay. Someone told me since she lives in her own house with the rest of her family. She is on the deed to the house... i can put a lien on her house that she lives in legally. Is this true? If so...what do i need to prove or put a lien on her house? Meaning, she is breaking the leasing contract that we have together and i am down the 385 out of the 770 for the past 3 months.

any help on this would be helpful!!

The leasing office has a right to the money regardless - you, on the other hand have a problem. You signed a lease and so are obliged to pay it. On the other hand, I am assuming that you didn't have a signed agreement with your fiance regarding the bills and lease. That makes it a problem for you to enforce anything against her. I would suggest you talk to your landlord and try to get out of the lease.
