Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois
I rent from a large rental company and we make a check out to Jeff Perry for our rent and he's also listed as the manager on our lease but the rental company is refusing to let us talk to him. I would like to speak to him about problems we are having etc. The manager I talked to he hires people like her to handle these situations. Is this legal that they are refusing to let us contact jeff who is who we make our check out to and is listed as manager on our lease? We live in Illinois.

Instead of trying to talk to jerks, why don't you see an attorney in your area, have him or her review your lease, discuss the issues you're having, and take appropriate legal action, which could include giving notice under the Illinois Residential Tenants' Right to Repair Act and/or in a worst case scenario setting yourselves up to declare a constructive eviction that may allow you to move out. While it is not illegal to "hide" oneself and set up intermediaries, you gain nothing by reaching him directly without knowing what rights you have once you do.
