Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois

I rent a room from my boyfriend in his home and have a paper he signed saying so. Does he have any right to put me out on a whim whenever he feels like it? Or, does he have to give me 30 days notice like other landlords? I have lived here for a year or so and am disabled, my mailing address is also here. Please help as things arent going so well between me and my boyfriend and Im in fear he will put my stuff outside and try to have me removed with only clothes on my back.

If you have a rental agreement w/ him you are entitled to legal notice. It depends on the reason he is attempting to get you out. If you are supposed to pay rent and you aren't, the law is 5 day notice unless the agreement states a different notice period. If you are providing other compensation and have stopped, it is more typical to give a 30-day notice. If you are paying no rent or compensation, again it may depend on the agreement as to what the terms are supposed to be, but some kind of notice ought to be required, even if it is only a 10-day. Ask an attorney to look at the paper he signed to help you determine what kind of notice you are entitled to, and so forth.
