Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois
I rented a private owned home for 15 years. I just received a letter from my previous landlord stating he was deducting for things like window washing and lawn mowing. Can he do this?

Read your lease; if these are your responsibilities and you didn't perform them, yes but your landlord should have given you notice of default and an opportunity to take care of things, assuming the lease had such provisions.
