Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois
we have been renting our house for 4 years now and have been on time or early with the rent. my fiancee just had to have hip replacemaent surgery and is off work so we are 2 weeks behind in rent, but will be able to be back on track in 1 week. the landlord told us today he is going to sell the house and we have to move. we have a signed lease good til sept. 2010, and it states we have first option to buy. what are are rights?

He can either evict you through legal process or he must honor the lease and let the buyer deal with the situation. Don't give up but don't just take his word for it either. But beware: having an eviction on your credit rating doesn't help. So since it would cost him time and money to evict you, try to settle with him. But if he's trying to sell the house vacant so the buyer can move in...... You may want an attorney on your side.
