Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois

So my roommate has failed to pay rent or utilities and we both have a verbal agreement month to month and the landlord has given my roommate a 30 day verbal eviction notice and she refuses to get out. what are the next steps and how do we get her out? because if she doesn't leave I am going to get stuck with all the past due bills and i rather leave than to get stuck with all of that..

It is very difficult to tell what your arrangement with the landlord is, thus impossible to reply intelligently. Is it a situation where the landlord has leased to each of you separately and expects each of you to pay 50% of the rental costs, or did the two of you take out the unit and agree between the two of you to split the costs 50-50. The reason it's difficult to tell is that the landlord is apparently willing to evict only 1 of you, and that's not usually the case. If it is a case where the landlord knows you are the $$ person, however, the landlord may be doing both of you a favor. You need to talk to the landlord because your solution may be to find another roommate or work something out with the landlord..... If you want to clarify the situation we may be able to help a bit better.
