Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois
Me and my roommate received a 10 day notice from our building saying that we need to move out by April 24th. My roommate is trying to stay in the building but I am planning to leave. Do I have to continue to pay rent at this building and will I be in breach of my lease if she stays and I don't?

Depends how your lease is written. If both your names are on the lease and both of you signed it and it does NOT say that each of you is ONLY liable for half the rent and charges, then EITHER of you is liable for ALL the rent and charges. But if they terminate the lease under statute, then you may only be obligated up to the point of termination. Without a complete review of the situation, however, it is impossible to be certain how much more rent you might be liable for.
