did not get seceruity deposit

i mved out on marh of 08 and the place was spotless. landlord came to the house a month before the lease was up and asked us if we were going to stay and wanted us to sign another lease, we said no and at the end of march we moved out and he kept or deposit. he said he would give it to us when he rents it out again he also said it was very clean. after he rented it out he refused to give us our money

If you are living in the City of Chicago or other city that has a landlord/tenant ordinance, then you could go to the city for help in getting back your deposit. You might want to try that route anyway. This answer does not constitute legal advice.
