Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois

I have a sign lease for a year. My 19yrs old son is included on lease. My son had a party with over 10 friends (around same age) in the laundrymat of complex. aparently police came and issue tickets to the kids. So management told me that either my son had to move or that i will have to move. well my son moved and now they want me to sign new contract stating my son can't be seen at complex. Im refusing to sign new papers and told them my son move and that i want to complete the year i have. Management said if I dont sign new papers will have to move, basically be evicted.

Is that legal? What can I do? I have paid always on time and never before given any warning or notice of any kind.

They must have given you notice of default under your lease, and you "cured" the default (fixed the problem) by making your son move out. Once you "cure" a default within the time allowed the landlord is not supposed to ask for more from you. However what they are looking for is having him now off the lease so that if he shows back up on the property he can be set up to be arrested for trespassing. This is up to you but I can see where the management wants his name off the lease to avoid future issues as to whether he has a right to be there. If you don't think you can handle this, you should ask a local attorney to try to make a call and write a letter for you that can establish some ground rules for your staying, acknowledging your son can't live with you, but allowing some kind of visitation that is reasonable. Point is that if you don't work with management you will find yourself looking for another place at the end of your lease.
