Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois
Sublet and deposit
I am trying to sublet my apartment. I DO NOT have a security deposit with my lease. Can the landlord ask the sublettee to pay a deposit even though I don't have one and they are taking over my lease?

Re: Sublet and deposit
A sublease by defintion is between a lessee/tenant and then a sub-lessee. Their lease/contract is with you, period. Sometimes a lease can allow a landlord the right to approve but the sublease should be paying you. If the sublesee has a relationship with the landlord directly you simply should no longer be involved in the situation.
