Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois

Tenant vs. Landlord

My landlord served our apartment (3 tenants) a 5 day notice. I had removed my belongings prior to the end of the 5th day, meanwhile my roommates tricked me by packing their things and hiding them in their locked rooms...most likely because I was behind on rent and the reason for the notice. Upon returning on the 6th day, the locks were changed and I could not access the apartment. I contacted the landlord who claimed to know nothing about the locks. The landlord made no attempt to obtain a copy of the keys so I could access the apt. and obtain my remaining belongings. Four days passed until I contacted the police and gained access. Do I have any legal recourse? The landlord is still proceding with the eviction process, I would like to know if it is worth my time to pursue legal recourse to try and void the eviction.

Re: Tenant vs. Landlord

If you didn't pay your rent, how can you "void" the eviction. You have no grounds. You can only sue him for damages caused by him not returning your items.
