Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois
Hello, my wife and I for the past 3 yrs have lived in a rented home and was curious if it would be possible to break the lease if we bought a home? My parents said they did it years ago in the early 80s when they bought there first home. I have tried to check illinois laws about this and can't seem to find anything. I have read the lease and can't find anything in it that says we can or can't break it if we purchased a home. We have 6 months left on the lease and we found out that we could be paying less if we bought our on home versus what we are paying here which is 1500 a month!
Thank you for helping us!!

I have never seen a lease provision which allows the lease to be terminated if the tenants wish to purchase real estate. There is no law which allows this, so if there is no such provision in your lease, you will need to work something out with your landlord.
