Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Illinois

Bought a truck at an estate sale 3 months age. Executor promised to send title when they got it back from the state after sending in the death certificate because they couldn't find the original title. We have tried several times to contact them and the acutioneer who did the sale, but have yet not received any response. Is the auctioneer responsible for selling a vehicle with no title? What do we do now? The truck is of no use to us without being able to title, or get license and insurance. Please advise.

Did you at least get a bill of sale with the VIN on it? Have you been to the Secretary of State? Actually the estate is the seller, not the auctioneer.
