Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Illinois

Judicial code of conduct query

Hi,

I am studying for the ethics section of the bar exam and i cant seem to locate an answer to my question which is as follows. It states inter alia therein that a judge is not permitted to be a trustee, officer, advisor or director of a law related org or a non profit org if it is likely the org will be frequently engaged in proceedings in a court in which the judge sits or one under it's appelllate authority. With reference to the section '' icourt n whihc the judge sits'' does that mean for example if judge x is a district court judge he cant be a trustee etc if the organisation frequently appears before the district court or is it in the district court in which the judge is usually scheduled to sit?..i.e more specific...for example on a monday morning at 11am on the 5th of October etc? bit confused!!! Assistance would be grately appreciated. Thank you

Re: Judicial code of conduct query

You will do yourself a great service if you never use the phrase "inter alia therein" again.

In a court in which the Judge sits means the district Court in general (an Illinois State Judge can be a trustee of an organization that often appears in Florida State Court).
