Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Illinois

Chron's Disease

I had an operation I didn't consent to which I believe has now caused me to have to wear a colostomy bag. I never consented to this operation, just lancing of a cyst and after the (non-consentive) surgery, I experienced passing bowel and bowel gas vaginally and had never experienced this in the 22 years of being diagnosed with Chron's Disease.

It it possible that I may have a case??? Prior to the surgery I was asked if I had ever experienced passing bowel or bowel gas vaginally and I stated NO, these words are in my medical records.

Re: Chron's Disease

In order to have a medical mal practice, you need to show that the standard of care in this region was not followed. The only way one could do that, is to review the medical record and have an expert opine that in fact, the standard of care was not followed and therefore you have been injured. It is imperative that you talk to an attorney you feel comfortable with. Shop around. The fees for medical mal practice are set by statute, so in that respect, there will be not much of a variance. However, it is important that you have an attorney who has experience in medical mal practice and trial experience. I wish you good luck.

The answer to whether or not you have a case involves determining whether the medical providers complied with the standard of care. Our firm would be pleased to review your medical records to investigate this question.
