Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Illinois
hysterectomy gone bad
Went in for partial hysterectomy(uterus and left ovary)was having problems for 5 years since I had a tubal litagation by same doctor. No antibiotics ever where given in hospital or sent home with after hysterectomy. Doctor never mentioned any problems after the surgery to me, but did tell my family that the left ovary did explode and had adhered to the uterus and colon with a major abcessing going on. 3 day hospital stay. Back in hospital next day. Very sick with fever, severe pain (which was a perforated colon). When surgery was performed they found a hole in my colon( that was sewed up-found suture material in colon[pathelogy report]) also had a severe infection( puss pocket) that was in my pelvic region, liver and the lungs. Was on 3 different antibiotics and had to get blood transfusion. Was in hospital for a week and now have a colostomy bag for 6 weeks or more. Hopefully the colon can be reattached after I heal from this horrible ordeal. Do I have a case or not? I live in IL and the surgery was done in WI

Re: hysterectomy gone bad
If the surgery was in Wisconsin, you will need to engage the services of an attorney in WI.
Whether you have a case or not cannot be answered based on the information you have provided. We have to look at the entire medical records in order to see what was done and what was it that lead to the complications you have described.
If you obtain all your medical records and let me take a look, I will be able to tell you with more certainty whether or not it is worth your while to pursue a mal practice case in WI.
I hope this helps,
